sponsored by Friends of the Bohm Theatre

The Greater Albion Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau invites members and the community to join us and Friends of the Bohm Theatre to this month's Eggs & Issues on Friday, December 16, 2022, from 8 - 9 a.m.

This past November, the Bohm Theatre hosted a week of concerts and workshops by a native Inuit band from Alaska, Pamyua, a program through the Arts Midwest's World Fest. The Arts Midwest's World Fest is where for three years, selected communities host a musical artist twice a year to come in and share their music. Albion is the only city in Michigan selected to be a site for Fall 2022 through Spring 2025.

Pamyua showcases Inuit culture through music and dance performance. Their shows are a platform to share indigenous knowledge and history. Their style derives from traditional melodies reinterpreted with contemporary vocalization and instrumentation. Often described as "Inuit Soul Music," Pamyua has discovered their own genre.

Band members are proud to represent Indigenous culture. The group believes unity is possible through music and dance. Together, each member works to interpret Inuit traditions masterfully with joy and sincerity. The response to this message is tremendous as the group is a symbol of pride for Alaska's indigenous people and to all who see them perform.

Pamyua's performances aim to honor and share indigenous traditions through ceremony, songs, and dance.

By attending Eggs & Issues this month, you'll learn more about Arts Midwest's World Fest from Bohm Theatre's Executive Director Donisha Brewer, along with seeing a recap of Pamyua's concert this past November. So please, mark your calendars to attend on Friday, December 16, 2022, from 8 - 9 a.m. at the historic Bohm Theatre here in downtown Albion, Michiagn.

Please let us know you're planning to attend so that we can prepare for catering by Lopez Taco House and coffee from the Foundry Bakehouse & Deli.
