            • Albion High School Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Award Program

              Albion High School Alumni Association to honor and award the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients on September 17, 2026

              The Albion High School Alumni Association has selected three Albion High School Alumni for the 2026 Distinguished High School Alumni Award recipients. The three are Linda Peterson-Lovelace, Class of 1979, Andrea Denise Armstrong and Marquetta Linette Frost both from the Class of 1991.The award winners will be honored at the Annual Kick Off of the Festival of the Forks special recognition ceremony and reception at the Marshall Opportunity High School Auditorium, 225 East Watson Street in Albion, Mi on Thursday September 17, 2026 at 7 p.m. The community is invited to attend. This is the 22nd year this special program has been presented. Everyone is invited to attend and support this year's honorees. Linda Peterson-Lovelace, Andrea Denise Armstrong and Marquetta Linette Frost. Refreshments will be served after the program in the High School Cafeteria. This is the 22nd year this special program has been presented, Also, this year there will be special awards awarded to individuals for their long commitment to the Albion community. Following the recognition program there will be light refreshments in the cafeteria where the honorees can mingle with the guests, offering congratulations and hugs. For further information or to join the AHS Alumni Association contact: Kathy Wyrick, President at kathywyrick61@gmail.com

                
              Linda Peterson-Lovelace, Class of 1979, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Spring Arbor University. She is currently a registered nurse and real estate investor, with an extensive career in nursing that includes long-term care, medical-surgical nursing, home health, school nursing, and corrections nursing. Linda is the co-founder and president of Darrington’s Gift Inc.; co-founder and president of Girls Love Oneself (G.L.O.); and founder and owner of Jewel Peterson Housing LLC. She is also a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, the Rotary Club of Albion, Albion Health Planning, and the Festival of the Forks. Her service has been recognized through the many cards, letters, and messages of gratitude from colleges, students, and families. Through Darrington’s Gift Inc. and the Darrington Lovelace Memorial Scholarship, she has helped students remain in college and supported cancer patients in getting to their appointments. She is the proud mother of three children and grandmother of five grandchildren. 

                 
              Marquetta Linette Frost, Class of 1991, earned her bachelor’s degree in Human Services Administration from Siena Heights University. She has built an extensive career in the human services field, including service as an AmeriCorps VISTA member in Calhoun and Ingham counties and as the Michigan State University Extension 4-H Youth Agent for Calhoun County. A lifelong advocate for youth and community wellness, Frost has served as an adult lifetime volunteer with Calhoun County 4-H Youth Programs and spent more than 20 years as coordinator and director of the Creative and Expressive Arts program. Her leadership has also extended to the Albion Health Care Alliance Executive Board, the Albion-Homer Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition Executive Steering Committee, and the Albion Community Opioid Prevention Leadership Taskforce Executive Committee. Her service has been recognized through numerous honors, including the 4-H Youth Development Eagle Service and Citizenship Award, the Goodwill Industries Youth Development Service Award, the State of Michigan Salute to Excellence Award, the Calhoun County Youth Programming Trailblazer Award, and the NAACP Albion Branch Community Service Award. She is the proud mother of two daughters.

                  
              Andrea Denise Armstrong, Class of 1991, earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in early childhood education from Walden University. She currently serves as Lead Teacher for the Calhoun County Community Action Agency Head Start Program/GSRP, supporting children and families in Albion. Her previous experience includes roles as a childcare worker, transportation aide, girls’ basketball coach, and assistant teacher. Andrea is actively involved in numerous national, state, and local organizations, including the Michigan Association for the Education of Young Children, the National Head Start Association, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, Substance Abuse Prevention Services’ Across Ages Mentoring Program, the Lewis Chapel AME Steward Board, the Mentor Teachers Support Group, and the Annual Father/Son Community Picnic. She serves as President of the Substance Abuse Prevention Services Program. She is also the current Secretary/Treasurer of the Albion High School Alumni Association, Steward Pro-Tem of the Lewis Chapel AME Steward Board, and Chaplain of the Lay Organization of Lewis Chapel AME Church. She was presented with the Parent of the Year Award by the Across Ages Mentoring Program. Andrea is the proud mother of three children and grandmother of eight grandchildren.
